Are you looking for a chance to rest and reflect after the busyness of the holiday season? Come join Refugia as we embody our values of thoughtful dialogue, curiosity, and silence. This one-day retreat will provide the opportunity to reflect upon 2016 and look ahead to 2016 while listening deeply to your life in the beauty of Alberta's eastern slopes. There will be time allocated for both communal and individual practices that will invite you to listen to your life and lean into 2017. Please dress for the weather, as you will have the opportunity to spend part of the day outside. Lunch will be served, and is included in registration fee.
Amy Spark is an environmental advocate and science educator. She encourages her students to learn with their hands, believing an environmental ethic is fostered best when exploring, observing worms, or canning rhubarb. Interested in the intersection between ecological and mental health, Amy recently completed research on ecological grief in the Ghost River Valley.
Jodi Lammiman was a part of the King's Fold Retreat & Renewal Centre's Resident Community for three and a half years. During her time on staff she experienced a deep invitation into both communal and individual practices of silence, solitude, and self-reflection. These practices guide her work as a spiritual director and retreat facilitator and will also deeply inform this retreat.
